What's Flash Comics #1 worth in 2025?
With only 48 unrestored copies registered with the CGC Census it's not hard to understand where the value for this book is coming from. The highest recorded sale of a Flash Comics #1 was $1,000,000 for a Pedigree copy (Mile High) graded NM+ 9.6. Several factors that have pushed lesser books than this to untold financial gains need to be considered such as the reintroduction of the Golden Age characters in books like the Justice Society comic series that ran from 2006 to 2011, the 75 year celebration of the JSA in 2015, recenct DC films featuring the Flash and last but not least the overwhelming popularity of the Flash television series which has popularized not just Barry Allen and Wally West but Jay Garrick!
Awareness and demand for these books is at an all-time high! Even the lowest grades are bringing record numbers due to the fact people have realized not only how rare the books are in any grade but how central to the development of the medium and the popularization of the super hero itself these have become. For instance a book graded PR 0.5 (Poor), which is basically just a complete book barely in good enough condition to give a grade, that book brought $15,000 in 2018. A mid grade copy, FN 6.0, pulled in $120,000 in 2018 as well. How could they justify these numbers you might ask. The book brought us the origin and first appearance of Jay Garrick, the original Flash, in a story by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert, of the Hawkman by Gardner Fox, origin and first appearance of Johnny Thunderbolt by John Wentworth and Stan Aschmeier as well as the first appearance of "Cliff" Cornwall, Special Agent, by Sheldon Moldoff, and the Whip, by Wentworth and George Storm. THAT is a crazy bunch of first appearances! Add to that the fact there are only 48 unrestored copies in the world and you got yourself a treasure.
