In 1940 Hillman Periodicals, a paperback publisher, entered into the realm of comic books with their opening effort Miracle Comics. The miracle in these tales came from the book's lead character, Sky Wizard. Rather then magical spells however this wizard's abilities came from the super weapons he invented. Yes this wizard was actually the world's greatest scientist. From his floating island in the sky Sky Wizard defended all of mankind from whatever threatened the world.
