Lawbreakers Suspense Stories

Lawbreakers Suspense Stories was the continuation to the Lawbreakers comics, which stopped at #9. The first comic in this series is numbered #10 and it ran until issue #15, when it was rebranded again to Strange Suspense Stories.

The stories featured in the comic are tales from regular people commiting crimes, or stories about imaginary crimes committed in the past.

After issue #15, the publisher wanted to give the series a more supernatural tone, rebranding it to Strange Suspense Stories.

What's Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #11 worth in 2024?

The top price for this issue was $3,350 for a VF+ 8.5 in 2013. Three copies are registered at this grade, with none higher in quality. A FN- 5.5 made a huge jump in value, from $700 in 2008 up to today's $2,700! That's an increase near 400%.

Why is this comic book valuable?

This is one of the best known pre-code covers due to its extreme violence: a violent killer is shown holding severed tongues in front of a horrified mute woman.

Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #12

What's Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #12 worth in 2024?

This issue from the pre-code horror genre only has twelve graded copies on file, and very little sales data to match. The top historical price was $407 in 2019 for a GD+ 2.5 grade copy. A single NM- 9.2 accounts for the top grade, but has no sales history. A VF 8.0 sold for $322 in 2013. Contrast this with today's higher price at a much lower grade, and it seems this issue could return excellent returns at the high end.

Why is this comic book valuable?

Another gory pre-code cover shows a woman emerging from a trapped closet, a victim of a violent insect attack.

What's Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #13 worth in 2024?

There are only four graded copies of this issue on file: one at GD- 1.8, one at VG/GD 3.0 and two at the top grade of FN+ 6.5. One of these two FN+ 6.5 copies sold for $336 in 2019. Considering the limited availabity of this issue and some of the overall high returns for this genre in recent years, that $336 price for the top grade seems far lower than actual market value.

Why is this comic book valuable?

Features early contributions from Dick Giordano, who would become the Executive Editor of DC Comics decades later.

What's Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #14 worth in 2024?

Only six graded copies exist on file for this issue. Most interesting is that the first sales history for each copy only occurred over the last few years. A VF+ 8.5 sold in 2018 for $1,200, representing the historical top price. Other recent sales include $264 for a VF- 7.5, $84 for a VG/FN 5.0 and $65 for a GD/VG 3.0.

Why is this comic book valuable?

This issue features art by Tony Tallarico. He'd go on to help create Lobo, the first African American comic lead character.

What's Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #15 worth in 2024?

The top price for this issue was $825 for a FN+ 6.5 in 2019. The same book sold for $150 in 2003, making for a profit of 450%! This is still significantly lower in grade than the top end of this issue; it's represented by three copies at VF- 7.5, with a top price of $650 back in 2012.

Why is this comic book valuable?

Another classic, horrifying and gory pre-code cover. It features a man with acid thrown on his face.
